Vancouver's New Green Building Regulations - Approved by City Council May 17, 2022
The City of Vancouver is implementing a series of green building proposals that were recently approved by City Council. One set of proposals targets approvals streamlining, resiliency, energy consumption, operational emissions and embodied emissions in new developments with large buildings. Another targets energy and carbon reporting, as well as operational emissions limits for existing buildings over 50,000 square feet.
Join ZEBx and co-host UDI as the City of Vancouver presents these approved proposals that will become the most progressive green building regulations in the country.

Charling Li, Green Building Engineer at City of Vancouver
Charling Li is a Green Building Engineer in the Sustainability Group at the City of Vancouver, which is on the situated on the unceded traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples. Charling has 15 years of experience in engineering, planning and research roles in the field of sustainable urban development. She is passionate about advancing equity and climate resilience in her current role in policy and code development.
Micah Lang, Senior Green Building Planner at City of Vancouver
Micah Lang is a Senior Green Building Planner with the City of Vancouver, where he has worked for the past seven years. In his current role, Micah is helping shape city policy on carbon pollution regulations and programs for existing buildings, with a focus on commercial and multi-family buildings. Prior to working for Vancouver, Micah worked for ten years in the private and non-profit sectors assisting local governments around the world with planning and implementing climate change mitigation programs. Micah holds a Master’s degree in Energy and Resources from the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from The Colorado College.
