This webinar aims to foster awareness about CSA certification of manufactured buildings, modules and panels to help local governments integrate certification into bylaws and the permitting process and help industry navigate this process. It will outline the benefits to local governments, the construction industry and manufacturers and risk management considerations to maximize code and bylaw compliance, including unique local requirements such as seismic standards and advanced energy step code. CSA A277 certification of manufactured buildings, modules and panels will be the focus. Z250 (module delivery), and Z240.10.1 (site preparation and foundation) will be briefly discussed.

Presenters

Khaled Habib, Principal Technical Lead, CSA Group

Fred Tewfik, Manager of Inspections, City of Richmond

Moderator
Alex Boston, Local Government Offsite Construction Accelerator Manager

The Canadian Standards Association plays an active role in the construction sector, establishing standards for public and private sectors to protect health, safety and performance. Strong CSA standards support the integrity of the offsite manufacturing sector and market transformation. Presenters will help us understand the role of CSA standards in offsite manufacturing and how they can be applied in local government to maximize opportunity and minimize risk. Construction and manufacturing sectors will better understand how to meet CSA standards and deliver on local and senior government policy requirements. There will be an opportunity for questions and discussion.

Attendees can ask questions with the panelists:

Khaled Habib is a civil/structural engineer with experience on large private sector construction projects. He is a certified safety codes officer in Alberta and leads CSA’s structural and construction programs.

Fred Tewfik has an extensive background in regulatory compliance in construction and private sector insight into technical manufacturing standards. Richmond has taken a unique approach to CSA A277 implementation, providing valuable insight into bylaw and code compliance for local government, construction, and manufacturing sectors.
