Large Buildings 2025 Winner: Royal BC Museum Provincial Archives, Research & Collections (PARC) Building

This presentation dives into the award-winning embodied carbon reduction strategies that allowed Equilibrium to achieve a 34% reduction in embodied carbon on the Royal BC Museum Provincial Archives, Research, and Collections building (RBCM PARC). Learn how large-scale adoption of mass timber, use of low-carbon concrete mixes with high supplementary cementitious material (SCM) content, optimization of structural connections, integration of architecture and structure, and prioritization of locally sourced materials to minimize transport emissions drove their award‑winning design.

Presenter:

Tom Place: Associate Structural Engineer, Equilibrium

Commitment to Circularity 2025 Winner: Low Carbon Tenant Improvement Project

Discover how Perkins&Will reimagined their Vancouver studio to cut embodied carbon by 52% while maintaining beauty and comfort. Learn how strategic material reuse, material efficiency, and low‑carbon specifications came together to achieve an award‑winning result.
