Free Webinar: Affordable housing providers’ impact on energy poverty

Follow the journey of a municipality that has made strides in advancing energy efficiency in their affordable housing buildings and how the advancements have supported municipal climate commitments, efforts to reduce GHG emissions, and saving money for those experiencing energy poverty.

This introductory webinar will help motivate municipal staff to consider energy efficiency in the context of any municipal affordable housing or consider a partnership for an energy efficiency project with an affordable housing provider.

Zero Carbon Building Standard Workshop

This live half-day workshop will review important foundational knowledge for low-carbon buildings, with an emphasis on the latest version of CAGBC’s Zero Carbon Building Standard. The requirements for both new and existing buildings will be addressed. Topics Include:

- The zero carbon balance,
- The zero carbon transition plan,
- Embodied carbon,
- Thermal Energy Demand Intensity (TEDI),
- Energy use Intensity (EUI),
- Peak demand, and
- Renewable energy

Builder Forum Series - Integrated Design Process (IDP) in Part 9 Buildings

On Wednesday, October 26, 2022 from 9:00 - 11:00am, the Township of Langley will be hosting an online builder forum to share information related to integrated design process (IDP) and how it can help you meet and exceed energy performance targets in Part 9 buildings. Topics include: a step-by-step on effectively conducting IDP for Step 4/5 buildings, key stakeholders in IDP, and real-life examples of buildings that have gone through the IDP process. Township of Langley updates will be given at the beginning of the webinar.

Decarb Lunch - UBC's Latest & Greatest: Passive House, All-Electric and Solar

ZEBx has showcased many high-performance buildings over the years, but with the addition of photovoltaics on the roof, Evolve takes the cake. It even combines heating, cooling and ventilation into one system - which is quite rare in residential buildings, but possible if aiming for ultra-energy efficiency. Despite its outstanding achievements, this project isn’t as unique as you might think… for UBC at least.
