Mass Timber Demonstration Program Info Webinar with Forestry Innovation Investment

The Mass Timber Demonstration Program is led by Forestry Innovation Investment through its Wood First Program, in partnership with the B.C. Ministry of Jobs, Economic Recovery, and Innovation.

We will be hosting an informational webinar to go over key highlights of the Program.

Local Energy Efficiency Partnerships (LEEP) for Renovations - Burnaby

On September 29th NRCan’s Local Energy Efficiency Partnerships (LEEP), BC Housing and local Homebuilder Associations will be hosting a one-day workshop. These sessions will bring building experts together to review cost-effective best practices and technical solutions available through the local supply chain, and learn how to conduct energy and carbon efficient renovations.
Content includes:

• Mechanical system design and performance considerations;
• Envelope renovation systems, building science, durability, and resilience;
• Renewables and battery storage.

Flixo Training – Model Thermal Bridges for High-Performance Buildings

In this 16 hour course, you will model thermal bridges using Flixo and understand the impact of design details on the energy performance of High-Performance Buildings/ Passive House Buildings.  We cover the concepts and protocols for thermal bridge modelling. Then, you will model several common thermal bridges using Flixo with guidance. 

Certified Passive House Designer / Consultant Exam ONLINE

There are two methods of becoming a certified Passive House Designer or Consultant: through submission of a certified Passive House project, or by passing the standardized international exam.  The exam is offered by Passive House Canada in cooperation with PHI. Certified Designers and Consultants will be listed on our website, as well as the international database. 

The exam is thorough and time-limited, and it is not recommended that you attempt the exam without first taking courses 120A, 120B and 120C offered by Passive House Canada.

About this event

Reducing carbon pollution is a key priority for the City of Vancouver under the Climate Emergency Action Plan (CEAP) that was approved by Council in November 2020. Nearly 60% of Vancouver's carbon pollution comes from burning natural gas for space and water heating in our buildings.
